Today while browsing my WordPress Website I got the  “Internal Server Error”  message.

While checking the error logs on my cPanel found that there was something wrong with the .htaccess file on the root of the domain.

The following needs to be done.

Go to file manager from your domain/hosting control panel. On the root of  the domain, open .htaccess and make sure that the data on the file should look like the following:

# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
# END WordPress

Anything apart from the above data should be deleted. Save the file and refresh the page.
